Bhakti Fest Kirtan at SMS, 2019

“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife”. The first edition of the Bhakti Fest Kirtan took place on the 3rd of February in the afternoon from 4 pm to 8.30pm. Kirtan is a form of devotional musical performance (which glorifies the name of Krsna through a Mantra) that elicits a response from the crowd, in a call and response way: we invited several stalwart practitioners of this devotional art form, such as The Kirtaneers from the U.S.,Vaisaki das and Jahnavi Harrison from the UK. Many of our girls attended the event and actively participated with enthusiasm by singing and dancing. The event was well attended and successful enough for FFLV to consider another one to take place later this year or in 2020. Sharing with you some of the moments captured during the fest:

I spent some time in the kindergarten hugging and high fiving tons of the little ones and doing “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” approximately a hundred and seventy times a day. The smiles they had transcended the language barrier and I always looked forward to going to school and getting tackled with hugs […]
