Bhakti Fest Kirtan at SMS, 2019

“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife”. The first edition of the Bhakti Fest Kirtan took place on the 3rd of February in the afternoon from 4 pm to 8.30pm. Kirtan is a form of devotional musical performance (which glorifies the name of Krsna through a Mantra) that elicits a response from the crowd, in a call and response way: we invited several stalwart practitioners of this devotional art form, such as The Kirtaneers from the U.S.,Vaisaki das and Jahnavi Harrison from the UK. Many of our girls attended the event and actively participated with enthusiasm by singing and dancing. The event was well attended and successful enough for FFLV to consider another one to take place later this year or in 2020. Sharing with you some of the moments captured during the fest:

Smiles and Hugs

“For my first trip to India, I was sure that I wanted to do service and felt like Vrindavan would be the perfect place to do so. The month I spent volunteering at Food for Life was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. My weeks were filled with joy, love, appreciation, and a lot of selfies with the girls. I am so grateful to have had the chance to come to the Sandipani Muni School and get to interact with such amazing teachers and students and to see what FFLV is really about. I spent some time in the kindergarten hugging and high fiving tons of the little ones and doing “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” approximately a hundred and seventy times a day. The smiles they had transcended the language barrier and I always looked forward to going to school and getting tackled with hugs […]

Aditi Tyagi visits FFLV

On 23rd January, to our delight, renowned journalist and TV anchor Aditi Tyagi visited FFLV. It was a great joy for our girls because they used to see her on TV and to see her live was a great experience for them. We took her for the project tour and was happy to see all the different ways in which we are helping the girls to become self-sufficient and empowered. She spoke to the girls and told them about the importance of being determined to achieve their goals in life.  She is an inspiration to our girls and it was a pleasure to have her here with us at FFLV. We look forward to her next visit.
